february love poem #2

2010 February 4

i’m a writer, not a visual artist. but it’s kinda cute, no?

now that the midatlantic is gonna get hit with another snow storm (again on the weekend! let’s hope it skips the weekend of the 20th), i hope this will melt away some of the cold.

To kiss someone new

I want to kiss someone new.
Be wrapped in a hug for more than three seconds,
press my palms against his back
and run them parallel to his spine until my hands
sculpt his shape into my memory.

For it’s been three seasons since these lips
imprinted upon another. Tasted the velvet
of a tongue. Or found its way
up thigh, across abdomen, around neck.

So kiss me like it’s the first time. I won’t resist.
Remind me again what it’s like to be touched.
Even if it’s not forever.
